Unipal, a Bahraini edtech venture focused on bringing special deals and discounts to university students, has successfully raised a Pre-Series A investment round, with backing from Falak Angels Syndicate members. Although the exact figure remains undisclosed, the fresh funding is expected to solidify Unipal’s reputation as a student-oriented platform that goes beyond simple price cuts, creating meaningful connections between youth and the brands they love.
Founded in 2020 by entrepreneurs Ali Alalawi and Ali Al Shaer, Unipal’s app-driven platform bundles together exclusive discounts on everything from restaurants to electronics. For students in Bahrain, the service is already a familiar name, serving around 60,000 users and boasting partnerships with more than 350 brands. Over in Riyadh, the startup has gone from a newcomer to a key player in just eight months, securing 160,000 users and forging 250 brand collaborations.
Unipal’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Last July, the startup picked up a $500,000 follow-on investment round led by Tenmou, Flat6Labs, and GTS, alongside various angel investors. According to Falak Investment Hub’s CEO, Adwa Aldakheel, the decision to invest in Unipal isn’t just about supporting a discount platform; it’s about fuelling a service that helps students unlock value in their daily routines while offering brands direct access to a vibrant, youthful audience.
For Falak Angels, this move sends a clear message about their ongoing mission—empowering startups that show promise and deliver tangible results. With the latest funding in place, Unipal is set to continue expanding its network, refining its platform, and ensuring that young people across the region can tap into great deals that make everyday life just a bit easier.
